Day 1 – Expectations
Day 1 is all about setting expectations, and in the very first BootsnAll email you will be provided with an overview of what to expect over the next 30 days. You will also receive their Master Round the World (RTW) Checklist. The 2 page checklist is a great way to kick off the series and something you should definitely physically print and use as you plan and confirm your trip.
Day 2 – Your why
In the day 2 email, you will be prompted to really thing about and understand your why. Understanding why you want to go on a longer term trip will help you be able to stay the course when planning and executing your plan gets tough.

Day 3 – Mapping out your route. Where will you go?
Day 3 directs you put pen to paper to start outlining where you want to go. It also provides sound advice to ensure you are starting with a outline of a route that meets your goals and wants without going overboard on destinations.

Day 4 – All about the Benjamins. Travel budgeting 101
Day 4’s email covers the topic of moolah and how to estimate how much you will need to fund your round the world adventures. You’ll get a link to a spreadsheet to help you do some preliminary budget estimating.

Day 5 – Time to get real about saving and reducing your spending.
In day 5’s email, BootsnAll will advise you to do a little more digging into your finances. How will you save and what spending can you reduce or eliminate to make your long term travel dreams come true?

Day 6 – Putting your career climbing on hold
BootsnAll wastes no time getting into the hard to have conversation topics. The day 6 email will tackle a topic that is likely to be a huge hurdle for most people who want to embark on a long term journey: your J-O-B. If you are transitioning or currently taking a gap year, the day 6 topic may not be an issue for you. If you are anywhere on the career ladder and ascending like clockwork, this will likely be a consideration that dominates your RTW trip planning thoughts.
Day 7 – 2 birds 1 stone. Travel dreams and resume building
Day 7’s email is dedicated to identifying ways your trip can enhance our resume. Can you work or volunteer while on the road? Are there new skills or experiences that you will acquire during your trip that you can showcase to employers upon your return to work? Read the day 7 email to get ideas on ways you can take the trip of your dreams and boost your resume at the same time. Day 8 – The current roof over your head
Day 8’s message will give you some things to think about your current living situation. Do you rent or do you own? Both living situations will come with challenges as you work through what to do with your current living space while you are away. Day 9 – Spread your wings and fly
The email on day 9 will provide tips on airfare options. Do you prefer buying individual airplane tickets and piecing your trip together on your own or purchasing 1 big trip that includes all of your travel legs. Cost, trip flexibility, and convenience are all considerations you should think about once you get to this planning step. Day 10 – Road Trip Anyone?
The day 10 email will cover overland modes of travel to help you get a different perspective on your trip. The modes discussed in the email help you to take it all in at a slower travel pace that could possibly save money over air travel in some cases. When you are taking a longer duration trip, you have a little more time to sit back and enjoy the ride so take full advantage.

Day 11 – Slow and steady wins the race
You will get more tips on slowing your travel pace on day 11. The day 11 email discusses all the benefits of slowing down. Whether you want to get immersed in the culture of a particular location or you want to guard against travel burn-out; slowing down could be the answer.

Day 12 – Adding organized tours to your independent travel plans
The focus of the day 12 email is organized group tours. There may be times when you are ready to hand off all the travel planning details to someone else. Depending on what you want to do, it may be required. Whatever the case may be, you’ll want to start researching the activities and tours early in the planning process to be sure the tours you want to join most do not get fully booked.

Day 13 – Finalize where you are going
Day 13 advises you to start putting all the pieces together so you can finalize your travel route and travel plans. Where will you go? When will you go? What tours and activities will you add? Now is the time to further define and finalize your route.
Day 14 – Finalize your budget
On day 14, you will receive some tips on finalizing your travel budget. It’s time to take the initial budget you created and update it with additional information like where your current bank balances are now. You will also want to think about how much money you need when you return so you aren’t coming home to an empty bank account.

Day 15 – Get your visas in order. No, I am not talking about credit cards.
Halfway through the series, you will get to a very important topic: visas. You do not want to get all the way to a country only to be denied entry because you do not have the proper visas and other paperwork. Listen to BootsnAll and make sure you do your homework on this one.

Day 16 – Shots! The ones with needles involved.
That’s right. You will be required to get specific immunizations if you decide to go to certain countries. Depending on what you need and what is recommended, you will need to consider the cost and time implications so start researching and planning early.
Day 17 – Travel Resources
In the day 17 email, you will receive a summary of all the travel resources that BootsnAll recommends. Airfare, accommodations, tour companies, and overland travel are all covered. The list is a fantastic list of places for you to start.

Day 18 – When people stop being polite and start getting real.
Yep. On day 18 BootsnAll will hit on another challenging topic: Telling people about your trip. In the email BootsnAll acknowledges that this may not be difficult for some, but for others it’s probably one of the most dreaded parts of the process.

Day 19 – Travel insurance
Day 19 covers another very necessary topic: travel insurance. The simple and best advice they provide is to Do Your Homework so you know what is and is not covered by certain policies. Go the extra mile, and read the fine print of all the policies you are considering.
Day 20 – Luggage Decisions
What type of luggage should you take with you on your journey? How many pieces of luggage should you take? The day 20 email will help with this topic as it covers luggage selection. BootsnAll also advises you to try before you buy and to think about the different situations you might be in with your luggage. Who wants to lug around 3 large suitcases uphill both ways in the snow?

Day 21 – Plugged in and connected
Day 21 is dedicated to all the electronic devices that are sometimes hard for us to part with. Are you taking your trip to go unplugged or are you planning on working while you are away. Your goals and plans will determine the amount of gadgets you need for your trip.

Day 22 – Don’t be THAT person
Who am I referring to? The person who packs with everything and the kitchen sink. The day 22 email will help with this topic as it covers packing and includes a link to the BootsnAll Ultimate Packing List. The email guides you to think about the differences between packing for a short term vacation and packing for a longer duration trip. Feeling prepared is one thing. Over packing is another.

Day 23 – Staying motivated
The day 26 email acknowledges that planning a long duration trip can be draining especially if you do not have positive people in your circle cheering you on. How will you stay motivated enough to see this trip through? This BootsnAll email offers up some suggestions on staying positive and motivated and dealing with negative influences.

Day 24 – Picking accommodations
Where will you stay in the places you visit? If you have not considered what types of accommodations you would like to book, now is the time. There are lots of different types of accommodations to fit all budgets. You may decide to stay in a variety of accommodation types. Do your research and select lodging that fits your style and needs and also fits within your budget.

Day 25 – Finance automation and important info
Are our bill payments on an automated payment schedule? If the answer is no, the day 25 email will give you some reasons why you might want to consider putting your payments on autopilot during your trip. The email also notes additional key pieces of information that you might want to consider bringing along on your trip, but be advised that you will want to keep the information safe.
Day 26 – Safety
Safety is the topic of email 26. The key message in this email are common sense, research and follow your instincts. Most safety concerns that you have at home will be concerns that you have abroad, but you also have to know the rules to play the game. Make sure to research the laws and common scams in the countries you are visiting. Stay alert and be mindful of your surroundings.
Day 27 – Health

Day 28 – Banks and credit cards
Bank and credit card fees can add up while you are traveling and spending abroad. The day 28 email from BootsnAll advises you to choose your providers carefully to help minimize or eliminate certain fees.
Day 29 – Staying in touch
Don’t forget to write! In the day 29 email, Bootsnall gives some options for staying connected with friends and family members via phone capabilities like Face Time, apps like Instagram and Snap Chat, and blogging. Whatever mediums you decide to use, make sure you set them up and test them now to make sure they work and your loved ones know how to use them before you leave.

Day 30 – Advice on your first week of travel
In the final email of the 30 day series, BootsnAll gives final words of advice on prepping for the first week of your long term trip. Plan on taking things easy your first week so you can slowly transition into your tip. Your trip will likely take some unexpected twits and turn so remember to dig in your heels, stay positive and enjoy the journey!
